    It is wide area (e.g. covering national geography) communication technology using very small aperture terminals.

  • EOT Cranes (High Frequency)

    Cranes used for Electric Overhead Transmission lines make use of these UHF frequency operated devices.

    Cranes used for Electric Overhead Transmission lines make use of these VHF frequency operated devices.

    They are used for navigational and search and rescue operations both on land and water.

  • Remote controllers

    Any remote controllers with limited operating range (few meters only) and not covered by any other type explained above. Certain frequency bands are de-licensed. Please check the order in site elsewhere before applying.

    Supervisory control and data access are those devices used in remote measurements and instrumentation (e.g. instrumentation for refinery, power plants, electric power distribution etc.)

    Receive only earth station- Any earth station used for receiving information only except those used to receive cable transmission.

    Mobile DSNG vans that are used for up linking various live programs.

  • Short range UHF hand held radio

    Hand held devices used for voice communication with limited range. (Issued by RLO).

  • Spread Spectrum

    It is a point to point microwave link that uses a specific technology (Direct Sequencing or Frequency Hoping. The band is de-licensed. Please check the order in site elsewhere before applying).

  • TVRO for foreign mission

    TV Receive only terminal used by cable operators exclusively used by foreign missions.

  • Terrestrial broadcast

    It is the medium wave transmission used for radio broadcasters.

Non-network License

  • Import License

    It is a clearance letter issued by WPC to clear the import of wireless equipments by the Customs department.

  • Aeronautical License

    The authority letter issued by WPC for possession and operation of Wireless devices in an Aircraft.

  • Maritime licenses

    The authority letter issued by WPC for possession and operation of Wireless devices in a Ship, Boat or Fishing Trawler. Separate application for each vessel should be submitted.

  • Demonstration License

    Demonstration of operation of any wireless equipment is conducted only with a Demonstration license.

  • Experimental License (Non-radiating)

    For devices used in experiments/testing/manufacturing without radiating capability.

  • Dealer Possession License (DPL)

    All distributors/dealers of any wireless equipment are required to have this license. Demonstration and operation of wireless equipments are not permitted with DPL.

  • Non-Dealer Possession License (NDPL)

    Any individual/company, other than Dealers/Distributors can use NDPL to possess wireless equipment that will be regularized by operating license within the same calendar year.

  • Citizen band license

    They are a special category of equipments that work only in citizen band (26.957-27.383 MHz) and with some constraints of power. The band is de-licensed. Please check the order in site elsewhere before applying.

WPC/DoT Clearances

  • SACFA Clearance

    Standing Advisory Committee on Radio Frequency Allocation:- As per the DoT policy, all antenna/tower/mast installed need to get SACFA clearance. SACFA clearances are issued after getting no objection from various SACFA members.

  • ETA

    Equipment Type Approval:- It’s a Type approval certificate issued by WPC for those radio equipment operating in delicensed frequency band.

  • Infrastructure provider (IP- I) Registration

    The Infrastructure Providers Category-I are those Infrastructure Providers who provide assets such as Dark Fibre, Right of Way, Duct space and Tower on lease/rent/sale basis to the licensees of Telecom Services.

Manufacturing & Testing License

Entities intent to manufacture radio equipment shall procure manufacturing and testing License from Regional Licensing Office.

Mandatory Testing & Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE)

Every telecom equipment must undergo mandatory Testing & certification prior to sale,import of use in India.
The testing is to be carried out for conformance to Essential Requirements (ER) for the equipment, by Indian accredited Labs designated by TEC , and based upon their test reports, certificate shall be issued by TEC.
